Or even because in the mid-1980s he performed some memorable concerts with Sten Getz and Charlie Haden, and has also released some major albums. Or due to the fact that performers like Dave Holland featured on his albums in the 2010s. Instead, it is because, ever since the bepop era, his play has made him one of the most influential pianists on the mainstream jazz scene.
